The World I'm a Real Beauty

Real Beauty Modelling is on a mission to convince the fashion media, clothing, and beauty industries to recognise that real women come in all shapes and sizes; not just 6ft tall, size zero models, and that realistic representations of women are truly beautiful. This is a real beauty, it’s healthy, it’s full of variety and it’s totally normal.

RBM are running a national modelling competition open to all women. Simply fill out the registration form and with it submit two photographs.

Each application will be reviewed by the judging panel and successful applicants will be entered into the competition. Please note you must be 18 years or older to enter and must not currently be under contract with another modelling agency.

Those selected for entry to the competition will each get their own professional photo shoot for publication on the website, and will receive a selection of those photos to add to their own modelling portfolio.

Each week a selection of models will compete on the website for votes; the weekly winner and two runners-up will go through to the quarter finals. The quarter finals will result in one winner and one runner-up each week; both of whom will go through to the semi-finals. The winner and runner-up of the semi-finals will go through to the final. At the final competition one winner will be revealed. All results will be based on public voting.

If you want to be able to tell the world “I’m a Real Beauty”, then register to join the competition today.

The majority of women today can no longer identify with the models in the fashion media. The disparity between real women and the models that grace ad campaigns and magazine covers is now just too wide.

We all get a lot of pressure to conform to a certain body type through many different types of media: TV, the Internet, books, radio, magazines.

Studies have found that fashion magazine reading was correlated with increased anorexic and bulimic behaviours.

Many girls believe that the normal or most attractive body image is what is seen on TV and in magazines; this body image is simply not healthy for most people. Real Beauty Modelling is here to change the perceptions of the public, and hence the fashion media, demonstrating that real women, with realistic and natural body shapes are Real Beauties.

Your are naturally beautiful
  • Real Beauty is not a size, it’s an attitude
  • Real Beauty is feeling sexy from the inside out
  • Real Beauty is a glow, a sparkle, and a self-confident air
  • Real Beauty is being exactly who you are and never apologizing for it
  • Real Beauty is loving your body including its imperfections
  • Real Beauty is looking in the mirror and smiling about what you see
  • Real Beauty is about seeing the beautiful things in others and telling them
  • Real Beauty is strong, durable and resilient

Thirty years ago, Marilyn Monroe, a size 14, had the ideal body shape and size,
but today’s standard is much smaller.

As the beauty ideal continues to get smaller in our society, body image within women continues to plummet. Media portray and compare happiness with being thin; therefore some feel if they are not thin, then they are not happy.

Take for example Lizzie Haines. While Lizzie’s body shape is totally natural and healthy, she spent her teenage years embarrassed about her body, feeling it did not match the fashion media’s definition of normal. Lizzie has just beaten 400 other hopefuls in the annual ‘Star in Bra’ competition based on public votes. She now has a professional modelling contract and has since appeared in catalogues and on the catwalk.

The only problem with Lizzie’s success is that she’s still referred to as a Plus-Size model, and she models strictly for Plus-Size fashions. Doesn’t she look beautiful, healthy, and utterly normal? Let’s stop the fashion industry perpetuating unrealistic and often unhealthy images of modern women.

Complete the application form and submit with two photos; headshot and full length body shot, to register for the competition. Our panel will select potential competitors and notify successful applicants within 90 days.

On receipt of notification from RBM you will be scheduled to attend a photo shoot where you will have professional modelling photos taken. We will issue you with a selection of the best of those photos to start your modelling portfolio regardless of your progress in the competition. Our panel will review your shoot and notify successful applicants of their official entry into the competition within 90 days.

Your profile and photos will be published on the RBM site where online public voting will decide the weekly winners and runners-up. Each week’s winners and runners-up will automatically enter the quarter final stage of the competition. On winning a weekly stage you’ll be issued with a ‘Real Beauty’ winners logo for your Facebook and Twitter accounts and ‘I’m a Real Beauty’ fashion merchandise.

The winners and runners-up of the semi-finals will enter the Grand Final which will be decided on a public vote. On reaching the final you will be in with a chance to win a modelling contract, and be filmed for a TV documentary.
